Dreaming of a large pond - help
Comments (6)We have a very large, long pond, about 175 feet with an upper circle and dam and a long end that curves around. We don't have a bottom drain but our's is an 'open system' in which we pump water from the creek that runs perpendicular into the circle where there is a fountain and the water runs back into the creek at the long end. Our's was a spring-fed boggy area we dug out. We lined it with used vinyl billboard signs overlapping but, we think as it has springs, we have air bubbles that come up and create pockets of liner that bubble up to the surface. We intend to use sand and river rocks to weight this down. Our pond was only begun last year so it is a work in progress but our comet goldfish thrive among the water lilies, parrots feather, etc. However, we also have blue gill bream in there that we did not put in ourselves and we have no idea how they got in there! As we are also near the creek, we have an abundance of water snakes, frogs, newts and crayfish as well....See MoreDreaming of Ponds and Koi....
Comments (1)LOL, yes, the other day I dreamed that I had a large koi pond at work and all my koi from home was in it. The pond somehow started leaking, and I arrived at work one day to find all my koi flopping around on the bottom! Horrible dream!...See MoreNew Pond Addict! LOL!!!
Comments (3)I'm a big recycler/garden junk/garden art kinda gal, thus the recycled ashtray/vase/glass art! and old tub! That little tub has been so enjoyable! Just throw a couple of small goldfish in and TaDa! BUT, I just killed my last 3 fish, by Throwing them in, I shocked them, ignorance kills!!! I have read EVERYTHING on this forum, looked at EVERY pic, picked out 2 more pond sites in the yard!lol! I need to finish my gardening projects first before I will let myself play with the bricks tho, I get too many projects on the go and call my place Ranchero-Sidetracko!lol! I KNOW that DH and I will LOVE this water feature! I will be installing an electrical outlet box/kit($30) myself to run the pond pump...and pond lights..hee hee! I've already bought 4 bags of mortar and LOVE bricks so now I'll be playing with them! (I hoard bricks/rocks/etc, have pallets set up in my yard with all this stuff and DH(whose a psych nurse) thinks I'm crazy!!lol!) Here is a link that might be useful:...See Moreduckweed & corkscrew rush for small ponds?
Comments (1)Good luck keeping the duckweed. I can't get enough. The corkscrew rush is primarily a bog plant and should not be sunk in the pond. It should stat moist enough if you can place it near or on the waterfall where it can get splashes....See MoreCraigger7
