Name That Plant!

I got this plant from work. I was told to cut off a smaller stem with a couple of leaves on it and place the stem in water for about a month. The plant would develop roots from the stem. When I cut the stem, I was surprised even thou the thickness was between a quarter and a half-dollar and looked hard, it was easily cut.

Definitely Clivia miniata. A great, low care houseplant.......one of my favorites (I like orange flowered anything!). You can Google the name to get various suggestions for care but IME, they prefer to be somewhat potbound, they like bright light and are not very water hungry - I water rather infrequently. When mature enough, they will reliably produce tall flower spikes in late winter/early spring. I take mine outside for the summer (as I do with most of my houseplants) so if you follow this practice, check carefully for hitchhikers before bringing back in but I have never had any pest problems with this plant. Of all my houseplants, this probably requires the least amount of effort :-)
