Barbara's Pasture rose

For any of you growing both La Reine and Barbara's Pasture rose or if you know them both well, what is the difference. I have 3 La Reines and they are all wonderful. They like my weather very much. Is Barbara's Pasture rose an improved La Reine?

I have never grown the rose sold as La Reine, but have a couple in the cemetery that are "La Reine-type" roses in addition to Barbara's Pasture Rose. BPR is more vigorous and shapely a plant than the other ones. I grow it in my home garden right outside my office window and it blooms heavily and repeatedly. Occasionally its leaves get a bit spotty - more the "damask crud" type thing than true black spot - but generally it's clean, and has no problem with powdery mildew or rust, which are more common in Sacramento than black spot. It's a wonderful rose. A nice medium old-rose fragrance too. We are going to have at least half a dozen for sale at the open garden on Apr 12. If you have room for another rose and don't grow it, grab it!

It also has done well for me in a partially shady situation, which most roses do not.

I'll buy one, too. Do you have any idea if it is being produced as a Region Free DVD (can be played anywhere in the world) or if it will be a Region 1 DVD (can only be played in the US, Canada, Bermuda, and US territories)? If it is not too late, I think it might be worth considering. I ask on behalf of rose fans outside of the United States. Region coding was set up to allow restriction of movie distribution, but that might not be a good thing here. In this case I would expect that rosarians from other parts of the world might find the video to be of interest. I ask because I once bought a DVD of a historic site in England to share with an interested family member back home. However when I got back I discovered that American DVD players would not play it. Potting up seedlings - that way madness lies! However, I'd have been tempted, too. I've never seen BPR seedlings in my home or cemetery garden. It's one of my favorite roses and I might have let the little foundlings grow for a bit. Malcolm, I do hope BPR works for you. I've wondered how BS resistant it will be in an eastern or southern climate.
