Can anyone give me ideas, please

In my pond, I have a 2000gph pump an bio filter with uv light, my dirty water is sucked in through pump through biofilter, an then i have clean water running into pond through one of those 3 tier plastic waterfall things,from Lowes which i have covered by rocks to cover up some of the ugliness,,lol,,,is there anyway, I can make some kind of a skippy filter kind of setup in the tiers themselves, like maybe in each tier have a different layer of something, any ideas please let me know,,thanks

I think you can make a skippy out of just about anything, as long as the water is able to flow through it instead of over and around it.

For the bio-media, you'll probably do better using the top tier, since the inflow of water from the pond is probably lower in the basin. You can use just about anything you can think of. I use mesh bags of scrubbie type sponges in a mesh bag. You should be able to find these mesh bags in the laundry department of any store, like Walmart. Lava rock works well, but they're heavy. Bio-balls are light and a lot of people like them.

I'm not sure about the lower waterfall tiers. Because water coming into the basins are from above, it might not be as effective. You might do better with plants in those.

I have a lingerie bag of lava rocks in the top teir, but didnt know if layering as I went down would be any more effective or not, like lava rock, top teir, scrubbies second teir, an maybe bio balls or something in bottom, I have wonderfully clear water, (knock on wood,,lol), but was just wanting to remove as many bad things from my water as I can,,,I really need to invest in test kit next time I am out an about, thanks for the help

Lisa Thanks, the descriptions on the internet sound about right, I never would have guessed it though. I'm wondering how on earth it found its way into a South Texas garden where every other plant is nothing out of the ordinary. Has pascoaliana ever "made the rounds" in nurseries at any time over the past several decades?

Here's my quote: 4 Plumbing Collars @ 10.95 each. $43.80 plus tax Service call to jobsite: $65.00 (that includes picking up supplies)If customer supplies parts and are not correct size, then $100 to return to get correct parts. Shingles if required. $15 per bundle. Flashing caulk: $4.25 (the good stuff) Hourly rate at jobsite: $55 per hour. Estimated time: 1 hour. You should also get a roof inspection. If the plumbing collars are failing, it's a good bet that the roof is approaching the end of its service.

Caramia, I'm so sorry that you've had such a stressful year. I do think that a renovation of your kitchen and dining area will help keep your mind focused on more positive and exciting transformations, which could be a great tonic for you. Your ideas so far are great, and I think you should go with them. We have white cabinets and new white bead board in our kitchen and dining area, as well as the lovely dark wood floors, and I never tire of looking at it. So I think you'll be pleased with this combination, too. I recently helped my DIL paint and update all of her maple colored kitchen cabinets and repainted some furniture in our house, using the techniques from Layla, of "The Lettered Cottage" blog, and was delighted with her advice and the way the cabinets and furniture turned out. I'm providing a link to her kitchen transformation that has the painting instructions, which I followed to the letter, and had great success with. The only difference with what you'll be doing is that she painted her cabinets black, while you'll be doing yours in that creamy white shade that you select. Take a look at what she's done and you'll see how nice it all turned out. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of my DIL's kitchen, or I'd show those, too. For our fiftieth, hub and I made reservations for two at a very fine restaurant. One of our daughters came to see us off and casually asked where we were going. We told her. When we arrived at the restaurant the owner seated us, presented a bottle of champagne, and told us dinner was a gift from our children. It was a very lovely surprise. The next night, they hosted another surprise party that included friends and family. The pictures from that are priceless. Our children made an album of our fifty years together. We don’t need any baubles or more things. The album is a true treasure. Keep your gift simple and meaningful. They will love it .

I have 7 bags of charcoal at the bottom, then I added a tight webbed filter, then 3 plys of batting, then a wide webbed filter, topped with squares of that barley straw square that the top spout from the pump shoots up and drops down the filter and out the bottom like a spitter of clean water back into the pond.

I haven't gotten to the water fall part of my pond. Too many things going on right now. But my vase works and is pretty as well for now.
