Please help identify the attractive shrub with multi- color fruit

I have been gardening all my life and am sometimes guilty of planting something that I do not recall - I like strange plants...but this one has me stumped. I do not know if I planted it or if it arrived on its own. It is an attractive shrub a little over 2 feet tall. (I will attempt to upload 2 pictures). We have had the plant for at least 3 years so it over-winters in Atlanta (zone 7b) without any assistance from me. The flowers are small, white, and almost citrus looking. The flowers are followed by fruit which start green and then progress through yellow, orange, and then finally bright red. They are perfectly round and about 3/4 inch wide. As you can see from the pictures it flowers and bears new fruit throughout the summer. In cross section the fruit is very pulpy and has seeds similar to a pepper plant (but no open cavities like a pepper). Any help would be sincerely appreciated...my wife has come to love this plant.
