cap yew not doing so well

Last summer, I planted two 6'-7' tall cap yews. They were planted at correct depth, etc. and irrigated well till ground freeze. Drip irrigation was installed at the time of planting. This spring, as new growth began to emerge on both shrubs, while one looked extremely happy with bright green new growth, the other had pale green flaccid new growth.

I put a hose up next to the trunk and let it drip directly into the rootball for several hours. The next day the new growth started to perk up a bit and as of today, the new growth is starting to become brighter green (similar to the other yew).

Question: how long to wait till giving the rootball another good soaking?

Thanks!
