Harry Lauder's Walking Stick

You learn something every day. I seen and grown specimens of Corylus avellana "Contorta" (better known as the title of this post) but didn't realize it was named for a real person. According to Wikipedia, he was a semi-famous Scottish entertainer back in the 20s and 30s, and "An ornamental cultivar of Common Hazel (Corylus avellana) has become known as Harry Lauder's Walking Stick or Corkscrew Hazel. It was noticed growing as part of a hedge in the 1800s & is now propagated by grafting. It gains this name from the fact Harry regularly appeared with a crooked walking stick."
