Waterfall and Skimmer Box Size

We have a 6500 gallon pond (approx.) with a 22 inch waterfall box and 8" opening skimmer box. We are using a Mag Pump50 (5000 gallon pump). we put our pond in late last July and the water is still extremely green. All the readings for PH, etc. seem okay. The previous pump we had that came with the kit we bought added over $135 a month to our electric bill and we just couldn't afford to run it. Suggestions here were given on a more efficient pump, which we thought we bought. We have four large koi and about 25 small babies in the pond right now. We hope to somehow catch most of the babies and remove them from the pond.

We have been advised by pond dealers on several pond tours we've taken to go with a bigger hose (3" instead of 2"), larger waterfall box to about 40" or so, larger skimmer and NO bottom drain. Does this sound reasonable for the size pond we have or should we just be patient and wait for the water to balance and clear as it's still fairly new?

We cannot keep rebuilding the pond and disgarding new parts. Shouldn't the proper size pump, waterfall, etc. be with the size pond we bought? It was with the last one. I guess we just don't understand why the pond isn't clearing as well as WE think it should. Maybe it's just us. The water recirculates about once every two hours. Is that too slow?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
