direct sowing seeds in lasagne beds

Hi ~ I prepared 4 new lasagne beds over the weekend. I was told you can plant seedlings in them as soon as you do the layering. . . with that being said, I have some seeds I collected and I know for a fact they grow where ever they land, almost too reliable if you know what I mean, anyway I have a perfect spot for them to grow at their hearts content, but it is a brand new lasagne bed. I don't have the grass clippings on it yet (Need to mow) as I wanted to post this question before I did. Can I put the seeds on the soil, cover them with the clippings, and expect them to grow. If so, can I do it now or should I wait until it is cooler so they don't cook? Or is there a better way to deal with direct sowing a new L/B? I don't really want to W/S them as there are so many seeds it would take all of my containers, and waiting until spring may be too late as they are hardy perennials.

Thanks to all for your input. .
