In which category of Craigslist should I put an ad for free goldfish?

I have way too many goldfish and need to "rehome" some (about 20-30 once I catch them using a minnow trap - have caught about 10 so far).

Thanks for any advice. I thought probably "pets" but haven't seen any fish on there, just mostly cats. :)

Have you checked local fish and aquarium shops in your area? We have a couple in my area, that will take fish you no longer want. One will give you store credit and the other will just take them off your hands. I know Wal Mart and Petsmart won't do this though. It's worth a try. Glenda

PetSmart is the ONLY place here to buy fish so that won't work - thanks for the info though. Walmart here doesn't sell fish anymore, and there are no other shops that do.

I do postage for extra Iris a lot. this is what I require from the sender! I only use the Priority boxes, they get there faster and I know the exact postage for each size of box. 1- Postage--money order or cash no checks. 2- A return address label 3- A note reminding me what the postage is for. sometimes I have more than one offer going on and with the note I do not have to hunt up the posts to figure out what one is what. After I get the postage "THEN" I send off the box. I then let the sender know that I got there postage and there box is on its way to them. I cut them back roots and tops, clean out the dirt and let them dry for a few days. Hope this helps. Gayla

Did you set a minimum bid of $90 or was it a buy-it-now price? I'd either set a lower minimum bid (as igloochic suggested) and take your chances or do a buy-it-now auction and maybe even allow best offers if you don't mind taking less. It seems to me the largest expense to installing a pot filler would be the plumbing required, so I doubt people are hesitating just because of the price. They may not want to bid because your starting price is high enough that they don't feel compelled to bid right away, so they watch it instead and then they change their minds or move onto something else. I think you should encourage them to make a quick decision with a buy-it-now auction if you're not willing to roll the dice and set a low minimum bid. But if you are, $.99 usually gets things moving pretty fast! Good luck!!

I would place it under Farm and Garden. I actually just got some free fish from a woman who's fish had a tone of fry and she posted in farm and Garden.

craig's list has a "Free" category that I find to be the best place to post anything that's 'free'...and where I've seen pondfish posted...;)

This goes under "common sense", but be careful when dealing with someone from Craigslist (or anywhere for that matter). I recently responded to an ad asking for free koi because I have many to give away also. This guy even had a picture of his pond in the ad.

When I emailed to say the pond redo was delayed a week, he responded with abusive emails, accusing me of setting him up, cursing, etc. It was really freaky! I'm just glad I had given him my address yet.

I have a pond with 9 lg goldfish, lost two this year because they are old. would love a few more, and we put heater in during the winter and they thrive.
