Yes the temp must stay in the 40's at least above freezing. I cut my plants way back, fertilize & place in a window with good light. by spring they are "full" & with many flowers.

100 degrees is way too hot for out-of-doors propagation of all but the most heat loving of roses - the true teas and chinas and some of the noisettes. I think George Mander puts the cut-off for the others at 75 degrees. I can go quite a bit higher than that using a misting system, but only so long as the nights are still relatively cool. Only the heat lovers will reliably root when it's hot 24 hours a day. You may be able to take cuttings and root them under lights indoors if your plants are still actively growing and blooming. A lot of roses more or less shut down at high temperatures, and in such cases it's best to wait until fall. Regular spiders are good guys in the garden. I'd leave them alone.

Thanks Rose qld I would be interested. I gather that the common names refer to the intensity of the oils in the leaves. Sometimes it is called lemon basil, others lime basil. I read that selections need to be made based on this perfume (I guess this is the flavour also.) I am convinced that it must be a naturalised species in Aus.

Could you try air layering ? I think that's what it's called . You basically pull a cane aside and put a rock or a landscape pin over it so it touches the ground, and roots , i don't know the exact size but maybe white drift would look nice ??
