UK garden tour, June: help me plan?
Comments (10)Oh Carol, how lovely. But, Cambridsge botanics has a miserably neglected rose garden so I will have a think because there are much nicer fellows gardens in the colleges (and you are always welcome to come and visit my allotment). Nonetheless, Cambridge is a lovely town and worth a visit but gardenwise, I think you can do better than the botanics. Beth Chatto - well this is another garden I am familiar with but you will not be seeing many roses - gorgeous woodland and gravel gardens but roses, nada. However, if you are heading Eastwards, then Peter Beales at Attleborough is standoutand is in the same(ish) area as Bressingham (but again, grasses and perennials but not exactly roses. You absolutely have to take in Mottisfont though. Finally, Wisley, which does have a decent rose display, is absolutely fabulous, for just about the best in horticultural excellence. Are you planning on using public transport. Are you in a group? I will check in the yellow book (this is a list of local gardens open to the public and include some very grand gardens as well as entire villages, when a whole bunch of little private gardens are open on certain days). There are a couple of jewels near Cambridge (Docwras Manor springs to mind, in Shelford. Such a perfect time of year to visit the UK....See MoreDarn those UK garden pics!!!

Not a fan of that style anyway and it did seem like you could pack more into the space. I assumed it would fill in as the season progressed? Loved the spring blooming space though which bordered the maze....See MoreDavid Austin's Garden in the UK
Comments (5)Thanks for all the help! Glenburn, that was awfully nice of you to contact them!!! I had also looked at TripAdvisor for comments around the dates that we expect to be there. Seems a little iffy, especially for a reasonably good display. My daughter just reported that she phoned the Gardens and they said that there could be a cold snap that would affect them, but if not, there would be some rose out. From the DA website I found a list of nice rose gardens in the UK. One is in Regent's Park in London, so I figure that a look at that garden would give us a pretty good idea as to what shape the roses in Albrighton will in. Its only a 3 hr train ride, so that's not too bad. The visit with my daughter is as important as a visit to the rose garden. Thanks again....See MoreUK Cranbrook Garden Festival - ideas and advice!
