Blah, ok I am so jealous, I sowed some cupids dart maybe 2 years ago and u know that stuff is still just a few inches high. I read somewhere that said it doesnt like heavy soils so I moved it to a rich organic matter earlier this year. Ya know it still hasnt done much of anything. Yours is already about to bloom the first year. My luck is that the year mine blooms it will die on me lol.

If you start them now, all summer they will grow, in fall you can dig up the pea size tubers, store them for winter, plant them in January/February, and maybe you will see some blooms in May, June or July next year.

Hi Jody. I started Cupids Dart from seed 3 years ago. If I remember correctly they did not flower the first year. The second year it sent up a thin stem with a beautiful sky blue flower on it. This year it is totally covered with blossoms. I love the airy look of the plant. Is the bud on yours actually papery? If it is then it is a seed pod. If it isn't, then it will bloom for you soon. The actual flower bud on mine and the seed pod are quite similar except that the flower bud is green and seed pod is a tan color. Marg

Annual rainfall has ranged from 1395.2 mm in 1955 to 628.5 mm in 1972. On average, approximately 72 per cent of the annual rainfall occurs between May and October. Although cold fronts are responsible for much of the recorded rainfall total, a moist onshore flow can occur in any season and bring showers or drizzle. Thus Albany records rainfall on 178 days annually, on average, which equates to almost one day in every two. July is the wettest month, with a long-term average of over 140 mm, whilst rain occurs on two days out of every three during an average winter. The driest month is February with a mean of about 23 mm and in summer it rains on average about one day in every four.
