What seeds can I start right now..??

Hi everyone - new to the boards - I appreciate the great info on this site and would appreciate your input.

I am in Northern Ontario (Zone 3) and this winter killed off about 80 percent of my perennials.

I have proper lighting to grow from seed and had success in the past - actually about 1/2 of the plants that survived the winter are ones I grew from seed last winter and placed out in spring 2006.

I want to start now (from seed - indoors of course) to plant perennials, grow through the summer and move out in the fall.

What seeds would do the best - and are there any that I should totally avoid trying for this time of year?

I am wanting to do this - so that I have my lights available next spring to do my annuals (from March to June indoors).

What I am not clear on is...will new plants placed out in say September, survive and thrive for next spring?

I will have to purchase seed at the local greenhouses to prevent a delay in time (shipping time).

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Missti
