Post-transplant dwarf burning bush

Hi everyone, GardenWeb newbie here. Last summer, I bought a dwarf burning bush and had it growing inside a large pot by my front door. Two weeks ago, I transplated it to a nice, sunny spot in my front yard. The rootball was more or less kept intact, and we dug a nice hole and spread some topsoil around the bottom before putting the bush in. That first week, I made sure it received either rain or water every day, and it started to make new leaves and bud and looked like it was doing very well. This past week, it's rained at least once every 2-3 days, but the leaves are starting to wilt and the buds are drying and falling off. Is my burning bush in shock? Do I need to muss up the rootball? Thanks for your help!
