I have had eglantyne, winchester white from DA....they all got BS and mildew in my area , but molineaux did not get any disease! So I guess i am in a disease prone area . I have narrowed down to Victorian beauty/isabella skinner since it blooms long , no disease or thorns. OR RdV - But this doesnt get too high my porch has a 12 ft pillar , not long bloom time too...So I am still debating between the 2 ! Both are awesome colors. My porch gets good direct sun till 12:30 and bright reflected sun after that (east facing) Does it matter where I get these from within USA? Will they all be the same strain? Continuous bloom is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to roses. They typically bloom in flushes and some repeat faster than others and the maturity of the rose usually plays a part as well. Based on your height requirements and other wish list, I'd really take a look at getting Roberta Bondar. It is not intensely fragrant, but does have a good fragrance to it. The blooms are a very large clear yellow that hold well in the heat. Disease resistance is above average as well and it will stay in the 6-8' range you are looking for. The best of the lot is probably Golden Gate, but it wants to be bigger than 6-7' tall and will require some regular pruning once it is mature to keep it that size. Normally a 8 to 12" climber.

About shade tolerance, cold climate gardeners rightfully look for Hybrid Musks that are shade tolerant, but if your garden is in a U.S.D.A. zone that is 6B or warmer you can grow roses that re-bloom more often than Hybrid Musks. A group of roses bred from Old Garden Tea roses, crossbred with Noisette roses, bred the group which vintagegardens calls Tea-Noisette. Tea-Noisette are climbing roses that produce lovely, large Tea like roses that blossom from early spring through summer, and on through the autumn. In our organic garden, a few miles east of San Francisco, these 4 Tea-Noisettes, all re-bloom well with only half a days full sunlight, grown on the eastern or western side of a tall building, or tall wooden fence. I cannot speak for disease resistance where you live, but would suggest you look at photos of these roses at helpmefind.com/roses pick a couple you like best, and then post a query on gardenweb, for information on the disease reistance of that rose where you live. Four shade tolerant Tea-Noisettes: 1. 'Crepescule" (6b or warmer) translates as Twilight. A blend of cream, gold, and apricot. I was surprised after we planted this sublime rose against an 8 foot tall wooden fence, that 'Crepescule' quickly proved itself to be every bit as shade tolerant as the Hybrid Musk, 'Cornelia' that we planted beside it on the fence. 2. 'Reve d'Or' ... a golden dream indeed. (6B or warmer) Blossoms are quite round, and have scalloped edges, which gives it a feminine appearance. 3. "Mme Alfred Carriere' 7B or warmer) White with a heart that changes from rose-pink to peach, that seems to light it from within. I'd like my M.A.C. to have a few more petals, but it is a very graceful rose. Not as resistant to powdery mildew, here, as the following rose. 4. California form of 'Lamarque' (7B or warmer) blooms with larger roses than the regular form. Quite disesase resistant to p.m.. but that says nothing of how healthy it would be where you live, where blackspot is the primary problem. In many ways I prefer this rose to M.A.C.., the foliage is darker and has more substance, and it is one of the few roses that reliably blooms after Thanksgiving, here. Nearly all of the small flowered bush types of Noisette bloom well with 6 and 1/2 to 7 hours of sunlight, where Hybrid Teas require 8 hours of full sun. Among these are 'Champneys pink cluster' 'Catos Cluster' pink 'Nastarana' white with pink buds. 'Caroline Marniesse' lovely cherry bud like rosebuds contrast very well with the blossoms. In general, Buck roses aren't all that hardy. There are a few exceptions, like Applejack, but most are just crown hardy here. Disease resistance also isn't reliable. Hawkeye Belle had horrible problems with blackspot. Country Dancer is reasonably healthy, but less than 2 ft tall after about 7 years. Parkland roses are also problematic for blackspot. They are from a cold but dry prairie climate, and often struggle in the east. Morden Centennial was asked to leave at the same time as Hawkeye Belle, and for the same reason. Quadra is new last year, so it's hard to say what the final size and shape will be. Get it grafted. It doesn't seem to want to grow own-root. Seafoam looks to grow about 6 ft canes. Whether that is long enough for what you want, I don't know. The trick with the new trellis is going to be finding a rose the right size. A monster will eat the gate, a wimp won't do much of anything. My Quadra is in a similar situation, and I'm hoping it doesn't outgrow the spot. Captain Samuel Holland is exactly the right rose, but it's down the row a bit and I don't feel like moving it. John Davis is another possibility, and maybe Clair Matin.
