id be intrested in the safflower this years i have red/orage habeneros sweet/hot cherry bomb peppers mucho nacho peppers purple cherokee tomatoes striped tomatoes (had 2 oz fruit) think acouple outher things as well im waiting on more from my basil tho have some (its a mix) im also waiting on some zuichinni seeds i have some chocolate bell peppers and fooledja jalapeno peppers that id need a quantity for and a list with years marked for EVERYTHING that i could send you any of those sound like something youd like?

Hello. I would like to add the purple glads to my pink and yellow pleasse. How do you harvest them? Are they still available?

To be honest, if you dig up your plant, you will see many tiny bulblets growing off the main corms - these are more reliable to plant than the seeds which can be a bit tricky. Even so, if you do sow the seeds, they should germinate easily enough next spring (a lot of garden glads have some mixed breeding in their lineage and often have peculiar growing seasons so do not expect immediate germination). I sow all my monocots in a fairly free draining loam and sand (or perlite or grit) mix, planting them out in the garden during their second season of growing in pots. They seem to do better sown in deeper 5inch pots rather than trays. They should reach flowering size in 3-4 years but you will save a year by planting the bulbils. The fine leaves come up like grass - if you leave your bulbs in the ground they will split off themselves and sprout numerous fine shoots next year - these will flower in 2-3 more years.

Heh. He was a bit curious to see me fishing around in it... seeing as how compost and such makes me a bit squeamish (germs, bleh!). Thankfully, they were on top. I just wanted the seeds to see if I could get them to grow and whether or not any had crossed. I guess I'll just have to wait for mine to finish up... a shame they all turned out to be red instead of mixed like the package said. Ah well, there's always next year.
