That hybrid is one I was looking at today at a big box store. But hopefully yours is not the same as the ones I saw, which had that tag in every Phal even if not the same color. Anyway if you will be growing indoors year round than your culture will be a choice of either Bark mix or a Spag moss. If you use spag moss you can get away with watering less. The spag will hold water the bark mix you must water more often and for a longer period of time since the bark, when new, holds little water. When bark is old it breaks down and will rot the roots. Phals will rot fast if the mix holds too much water for too long. Either way the medium should dry out before watering again. If the clear pot look as though the roots still have some growing room than you can keep it in the same pot. As long as the mix is still good. If it is bark the bark should be still in chunck form. If you just bought it than it should be fine. Good light but not direct sun. Will the plant be growing in natural light or man made? An apartment maintained at room temps in the fall winter will hamper the plant from reblooming. Many can stay in bloom from an old flower stem but in order to cause a new flower stem it needs night temps to fall into the the upper 40's in the fall/winter. Smaller Dtps (Doritis x Phal)can bloom more frequently and can spike without the cooler weather, but if yours is like the ones I saw today than it is a true large flower Phal. and will need a cool fall the spike new shoots. Do you have access to a patio? Do you know your Weather zone? Where are you from?

That is brilliant!! If you need REALLY big cheapo "pots," check out Home Depot for an 18-gallon tub with rope handles for about $6. I can't find it on the Web site, but they were near the inside garden area. I picked up a bunch to make self-watering containers for my tomatoes. Looks like Lowe's carries a near-identical 20-gallon tote for $6.98, and a 10-gallon model for $4.88. If you ever want to sink potted roses in the ground, that might be just the ticket. I guess you could just as easily use the standard rectangular tubs they use to make fake Earthboxes, but round ones are easier to cage (in the case of tomatoes) and probably easier to bury. I got these from an Ebay supplier.birdsongfarm. They don't have much top growth at all, maybe 6-8inches. They do have a good size clump of plump roots. The seller stated she keeps het clematis topped off to promote root growth. I have been checking them a couple times a day, since I'm on vac for the next 2 weeks and I have been outside every day. If it doesn't rain every few days, I do have to water some of my other pots and will do the same for them. It won't take much to water them every day if I have too. Melissa

So you think if I wait until mid-September, that will still give the plant sufficient time to get used to its new, larger home, and will still enable the plant to be strong enough to weather the winter safely? Or just to be safe, should I just give it extra insulation from the cold this winter? Yeah, maybe that'll do it....
