Good repeat climbing rose for a arbor?

I would like to have arbor in my back yard but have a red blaze climbing rose close by. So far the Blaze Rose has done very well but would like some suggestions for another repeat climber that might look good with it. They would not be right next to each other but I think another color besides red might work. Any suggestions?

I just found a photo of where I want a arbor. The Blaze Climbing Rose is on the shed. I am looking at iron or copper arbors.

Gorgeous picture - though I would not know what to suggest. It certainly will call for most colours except red and it deserves, the best repeat bloomber you can get.

I am sure somebody is going to come along with the perfect rose....but I just wanted to say what a beautiful spot that is!

I was looking at black iron arbors as we will be replacing the wooden fence soon in a year or two with the new vynal white post and rail. We have a dog so we were looking at picket and post and rail with the green wire. The wooden fence is old and falling apart and even though I like the wood look as it is more natural I feel we have white vynal in the front of the house so trying to keep everything even as far as fence color goes. I won't be replacing the fence for another year or two so I feel the black arbor will go with the old and new fence plus match in with the white and black shed. White sounds interesting with the clematis but if we switch to a white post and rail fence then maybe pink is the better option. I was looking at golden showers as a climber but that is yellow so I will have to take a look at some of the pink one's mentioned above.. Thanks for the input!! The shed is my husband's gift and he told me to have fun decorating around it so I am!!!!

My Fourth of July is a J&P new generation (own-root) rose, planted 2 years ago. It remained a small bush the first year, and started throwing long canes last year. Its about 10 ft high now, but I have to prune and train to keep its width constrained because I am growing in on a pillar. Here's 1 pic from the first summer, and 2 from last week, so you can see how fast its grown. Its so vigorous that I use much less fertilizer on it than the bush roses. We do have a long growing season though, so it'd probably be slower for you.

A number of the Austins would make lovely climbers for an arbor that size. I have Crown Princess Margareta on my arbor and Teasing Georgia as a climber on a trellis along the wall of the house (both apricots; nice fruity scent). Brother Cadfael (huge pink blooms, thornless) also does nicely here. One of my absolute favorite Austins that would work as a short climber is Jude the Obscure, beautiful flowers (still flowering now! a yellow blend) and an absolutely amazing scent--even better than Abraham Darby if you can believe it. Pretty light on the thorns too. Strawberry Hill is another pink with a myrrh scent that has a climbing habit in my zone and is always in bloom. And Graham Thomas is a rock-solid reliable yellow that would make a lovely climber for an arbor--rich yellow, with a strong Tea scent. That is a few of my favorite Austins with a climbing habit at present, although there are many more that would be suitable.

I haven't ordered anything yet, as the office of the nursery that has all the roses I want, is closed until the end of September. Unless I hear of any reason why not, I am going to have Claire Austin up the back of the arbour and Ali Baba for the sides. This is very different to my usual taste, but I have become one of those disgraceful old ladies who says and does outrageous things with glee. I am also going to grow two, white dipladenias up the sides. Definitely over the top, especially as there are already two stephanotis on the arbour. Daisy

Thank you Pauline! I am thinking a yellow/orange or maybe something lighter pink..Maybe a multi color rose is better but i need one that blooms alot!!

Climbing Pinkie blooms a lot although it might get too large for an arbor. By the way, your garden is absolutely lovely! I've also heard great things about Viking Rose. Austin's Spirit of Freedom is another really beautiful rose that will climb.

A friend has Westerland growing beside his deck. It grows up and over the sides - deck is over 6 feet above the ground. Blooms constantly, smells wonderful, and does not have problems with disease.
