when I put my koi in the pond it took almost 3 weeks for me even to get a glimpse of one of them, they were just scared so hopefully yours are stil in there.

Took mine about the same to start venturing out. For those three weeks, I thought my pond had been completely emptied of fish. I have one larger koi, and now that they're finally coming out, the little ones try to hide underneath it.

Trout are agressive feeders. It is more than possible ... it is likely. Maybe you'll get lucky and see them later as others suggest. I can only hope you do.

My understanding is that trout strike on things that are small enough to gulp down; they don't usually strike to take a bite out of something and eat it that way. This from the fish farmer from whom I bought some trout last year to eat all my goldfish fry. They did do that nicely, but these were 6 to 8-inch trout eating 1- to 2-inch fry. The trout did not bother bigger fish.

I hope your koi are just hiding. I'm betting they are.

Zinnia - if your 6 to 8 inch trout were eating 1 to 2 inch fry I would imagine a 14 inch trout can eat a 4 inch fish. I know why you got the trout to eat the excess goldfish and they did their job and then you said you would fry up the trout before the warm water killed them, but I'll never understand why people load their ponds with incompatible species with large size differences unless they want the predation.

Hopefully the koi are hiding but if they are not I wonder what the plan is for the trout.
