Turtles eating all my plants (duh)

We recently got two adult Red Ear Sliders for our 800ish gallon pond. I'm not really surprised, but they have eaten nearly all my lillies, duckweed and hyacinth. They refuse to eat what I supply for them - Reptomin, fresh veggies, lettuce, etc. I am thinking about dividing my pond in half. One side for fish and plants, one side for turtles. Has anyone ever done this? Is it a dumb idea?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
