Memphis King - your experiences

I'm looking over my potted bands from Heirloom. All in the same spot are Ruby Baby (x2), Amazing Grace, Memphis King, and Busy Bee. there are another 50 or so roses around my front yard with these roses in pots on my front porch. Despite recent rains (protracted for us, but consider the Phoenix area), I have only one rose planted out in the garden with even a hint of powder mildew: Soroptomist International, which I sort of tolerate despite the mildew because its determined to grow lush, full and bloom its head off and when the foliage is clean, its gorgeous.

Memphis King, on the other hand, might as well have been frosted or snowed over its so white and been hit so hard by powdery mildew. Is this normal or did it likely just come in with the spores present and after some treatments will it likely be clean or cleaner going forward? I'd dump it for another red or dark red mini-flora if its likely to be a persistent problem in my no spray garden.

Memphis Magic has been wonderful for me, for example, and I could find another source for another.

One of the very few roses that mildewed for me in FL. Grew it for 2 yrs and even with spraying it wouldn't stay clean. I tossed it. Ricky Hendrick was another mildew mess. As much as I love Whit Wells roses, a lot of them have mildew problems. It's a trial and see what happens in your area with his roses. You might want to try Robin Alanzo. Nice healthy bush that blooms all the time. Memphis King was very stingy with it's blooms and the bush grew very slow and had a weird shape. This is just what happened to me. Some folks love MK.

I can't find any specification of your garden in the post. I mean tell about the sun light conditions, soil nature and such relevant things so that one can suggest properly. Have you been growing any other rose plants? Is this the problem with just Memphis king or all other roses?? have you been giving specific area to the plant to grow? And most importantly have you treated your land with chemicals in near past? Please tell so that i can suggest further

Further examination of my King rooting effort revealed several roots in one cup off a cutting with no green showing. I was about ready to enter that one in the history book. Another that is pushing buds has no indication of roots whatever by looking through the clear plastic, but there is a root about 1/2" long protruding through one of the drain holes I punched in the bottom of the cup. They're not ready to pot up yet, but at least I've seen roots! So far 2 Nazarti, 2 Excel, one Alma, one Col de Dame are potted.

Lisa, the boiling water is added to the bulk of the flour, mixed and allowed to cool before the instant yeast is added along with potato flour, olive oil and salt and more flour. The hot water modifies the starch of the flour-reminding me of years ago making childrens' clay. www.toptastes.com/features/kingarthur/soft should connect to the recipe. When I was in the market for a new mattress, I went to Macy's and found one I liked. It is a pillowtop. The saleslady asked if I wanted a full size box spring or half. I had never seen such a thing, but told her a full size. When it was delivered it was so high I couldn't get up on it. I made them take it back. I also wrote a letter of complaint because I felt the saleswoman should have pointed out that none of the mattresses on the showroom floor had the full size box spring. I had never seen one before and I thought she should have pointed out the fact that I would need a ladder just to get into bed. There was no difference in price between the full and half box spring. My mattress does have a crater in it and is too heavy for me to turn. I don't like it, but I can't just go out and buy another one so soon. :(
