WHEN to start planting-tomatoes, peppers, stevia

Greetings! I have a heating pad for my seed starting dome (Biodome from Park Seed) and a light on a timer; but folks, I am a little hesitant to start planting the seeds.

I am afraid it is still TOO cold in my work shop and too early to start seeds which I plan to plant the transplants about mid to late May.

I am in Western Massachusetts.

I would REALLY appreciate help and suggestions from all of you!

I wish to get started with peppers, tomatoes, stevia (AKA sweetleaf-a herb), marigolds, and peppermint.

Than, I thought about starting around the first of April, cucumbers and squash (summer and winter).

The frustrating thing is that it is so COLD right now-tonight will drop down below freezing-that I am afraid the seedlings will die of the cold.

But, I really want to kick-start the plants and get them going for a very successful summer of harvest and beauty.

I had thought that around March 15th was the start date for Western Massachusetts (Springfield, MA area)-with planting for about mid to late May.

PLEASE I would appreciate any input.

Thank you. Bets wishes.

Lawrence
