Comments (2)Do the leaves look like in the link? If so, mobot.org says it's phyllosticta hamamelidis, a fungus. You can google it for how to take care of it, but looks like the main thing is getting rid of the diseased leaves and spraying a fungicide next spring or earlier. Not sure. Good luck. Comments (1)Once established Hamamelis virginiana has moderate drought tolerance. They do prefer slighly acidic soil so you should be ok, you won't get a 30 footer but it will still do good given proper planting and aftercare.
