hi .. welcome to GW ... you got it last w/end.. and you have already fertilized it twice??? one might suggest you are on the verge of loving this thing to death ... and you water it when it needs water ... insert finger.. that medium looks rather peaty to need watering every other day ... but it is really up to your finger to figure that out .... and when i bring home a plant.. i NEVER place it out in full sun .. since i have no idea if it is acclimated for full sun .. i would give it a few days in very bright shade.. to get it hardened off... and then start moving it toward full sun ... [it looks like a greenhouse plant.. and any glass between the sun and a plant.. in theory.. is not full direct sun ..] .. and with the plant getting rather large.. and the pot getting smaller.. i might avoid full sun altogether ... the pot just might not be holding enough water for all day in the sun .... put it in bright shade .. water it properly.. dont fert it for at least a month.. and then very diluted.. and just enjoy it... once it goes to seed.. there wont be anymore flowers.. unless you take that one off .... good luck.. and good day ken ps: dont make presumptions just on the name.. because.. in this case.. a sunflower.. probably should be in mother earth.. rather than a pot ... and that is where problems start ...

You have some form of fungal disease--It may be blight. I do know that the first line of defense is to remove all the infected leaves. You then need a fungicide and I can't advise you there either. When watering try not to get the leaves wet. Most leaf diseases spread the same way. Water splashes on the infected leaf, which splashes on to an uninfected leaf. The water carries the spores of the disease to the new leaf and it becomes infected. Eventually the whole plant dies. In addition some diseases live in the soil. In that case you have to solarize the soil by putting black plastic on it and let the sun kill it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but maybe you can get rid of it if you are vigilant

I don't spray at all...so no it's not pesticide damage. Oh wait a minute! They just started fogging us again with Malathion to control mosquitoes....2nd Wednesday they've been back at it this year! Do you think it could be that? I don't recall any of my plants suffering or having any lack of bugs (bad or good) except the skeeters...hmmmm Vera

Hello everyone,I am a beginner gardener. I tried planting ruby pollenless sunflowers in a few planters. After they grew a little, they dried out (the leaves seemed to curl out) somehow. I am sure I didn't underwater nor overwater them. Please, could anyone recommend what I should do to save my seedlings? Many thanks!
