Ok.. we went camping and found a pond that was just covered in tadpoles.

I sent the kids collecting and now we have tons too many... I have put them in an aquarium with a bubbler and floating pond plants and read about feeding them boiled lettuce.

Is there anything else I should do? Last year I stuck them in the pond and they all disapeared so I think the fish ate them... I had one frog survive.. I want more so any help would be great.

I have no idea what to feed tadpoles, but I am laughing myself silly over the concept of boiling lettuce!! Don't know why it is striking me so funny.

Gees you should see the reality... it is slimy and looks nasty.. we'll see if it makes them happy..

i have 2 ponds in my yard with plants and fish. i drained the kids pool for the winter and was going to fill it up again for the kids as it was going to be 90 this week. the pool has about 3 inches of water in it from the rain. it is full of tadpoles. some are large and have their back legs already, but some are still babies. can i move them to one of my ponds without hurting them? so i can ready the pool for the kids. problem 2: i was hanging clothes out on the clothes line yesterday and a million termite "flies" came buzzing by me. they were coming from a stump in the empty lot next to me. i was going to put bleach on it (i heard that will clear them up) but there were a lot of lizards on it eating the "flies" so i did nothing. i do not want any termites in my yard...what do i do? thanks cindy

I am down in Utah Valley so the only places I know are all down here. I would imagine along the Jordan River there are plenty of frogs, but not sure how easy they would be to catch. I was out a couple weeks ago and looked for frogs, but didn't see any frogs or tadpoles. This is the time of year when tadpoles should start showing up. I will look again soon and if I see some I can let you know.

Tadpole's Salsa 28.8 oz can whole tomatoes 6 oz. can pickled jalapenos, seeded (or about 6 large) 1 or 2 cloves garlic 1/2 tsp. lime juice salt and pepper to taste Puree garlic in food processor until minced. Follow with the remainder of the ingredients and process until fairly smooth. That's it!!!

Big tadpoles must EAT little ones!

I did the same thing as you, boiled lettuce and all (ick), but the tadpoles began to disappear so I quickly put the few survivors out in my new little tub-pond and I hope at least some will grow up into frogs. Min

Oh my I just don'g have the problem of tadpoles not making it in the pond. I have toads in every stage of life right now including a female toad sitting in my bog that looks like she is about to explode from eggs. We get strings of eggs at least 6 a week and the eggs from the first batches are now hopping around the plants as we walk around the pond. Maybe put some in the pond and see what makes it and what doesn't. I can't imagine them not making it and feeding is easy. My tadpoles have no lack of food that is for sure. I have enough algae to feed every tadpole in the Carolinas.

I would love a couple of toads, I am so envious. These are all probably tree frogs since the tadpoles are tiny even the biggest ones are tiny..

Oh, please don't. Ward's does NOT have any frog species native here in Oregon. It is illegal to keep bullfrogs here as they are eating native frogs and turtles into extinction. The treefrogs they carry aren't our native Pacific Chorus Frog either.

Fish will eat tadpoles. I never had frogs until I built ponds and container ponds with no fish. I promise that if you do a container pond that our native treefrogs will show up and breed. I had the fish pond for five or six years with no frogs until I starting putting in other water sources and now I've got hundreds of froggies. Still none in the fish pond.....

What do you do when you have baby toads comming out everywhere. I have a 15 foot by 50 foot pond and I litterally have a good two thousand babies. We caught a bunch in one corner and counted 400 of them alone. Plus there are still tadpoles in there. I hate to say but I removed tons and tons because they covered every inch of my pond. I love my frogs and listening to them but I am afraid i will no longer be able to sllep once these little ones grow big.

They will disperse and not hang around the pond as adults. If you have a natural area nearby you could take them there.

Toads eat tons of bugs and I'd be thrilled to have them in my garden.

Frogs and toads are species in decline (except for bullfrogs and cane/marine toads) and they should be helped to survive.

I have no problems with the toads. I have ones that live under my front deck, at my pond, at the kids pool anywhere we have water or moisture. The toads are not the problem is the amount and at night all the noise is unbearable. Kinda like living in a apt and your neighbor blasting there music all night long so you can not sleep, enjoy tv or a conversation.

Well it's been a week and the tadpoles seem to be very fat and happy. They love the nasty boiled lettuce and I stuck a bunch of my floating plants in the tank and a small rock with algea on it.
I also have a strange looking water bug and a couple of baby salamanderes which look a lot like the tadpoles just skinnier and they have a little fan around their gills.
also now have several baby fish... My fish spawned and I didn't realize it and stuck the pond plants in there.. I was down looking in the side of the pond and saw all the babies in it so I know they weren't some out of the same pond as the tadpoles.
My hubby thinks I'm nuts with my obsession with the fish/frogs/etc. Just can't help myself.
