Robert, what is your experience with Maman Cochet? If MC balls, gets botrytis and BS for you (as it does in my climate) and gives you only few properly opened flowers per year, Niles Cochet will do the same. In my experience it also had more winter dieback then MC, both were in somewhat sheltered location.

Madam Wagram is more hydrid bourbon than tea for me. VERY black spot prone. But, very beautiful.

Hi Robert, I've grown several from your list. Gen Schab is so similar to Mons Tillier its tough to tell them apart. Gen Schab is a smaller plant and the blooms are consistently pink with no copper tones. If you're challenged for space/time/cash you don't need both. Triomphe du Luxembourg is an upright, vase shaped plant resembling a HT in form. The blooms are drop dead gorgeous but the foliage needs to be sprayed or its likely to defoliate from BS. Gen Galleini is excellent, great BS resistance, great blooms, a MUST HAVE rose.

Robert, I had Rainbow a few years ago but I didn't like the way the leaves yellowed and dropped. It wasn't blackspot either. :-/

Nice list. I can't comment on any of them though. Do you have trouble with balling or thrips on your light colored roses? I do.

I'm sorry to be backwards in my response, but I would defintely NOT remove Gilbert Nabonnand! Mine is young, but it has been completely healthy and the blooms are beautiful.

Mme de Tartas, also sold as General Tartas, is a terrific rose. Get it. Bloom vary from very double to just semi-double, depending on weather.

G. Nabonnand is a very floriferous rose, but just semi-double, which might blow quickly in your climate.

Mme Charles is a terrific apricot-fading to cream rose, probably sold under other names as well, including Safrano. (There is also a different rose sold as Safrano).

Mme Wagram has not been healthy here. It will be composted.

Souv. de Victor Hugo is a small grower for me, very similar to MmeMlle Jeanne Phillipe.

Gen. Gallieni is famous in hot Australian climates. Almost single, in the color of a blood orange, coppered. Mine is not a great clone.

I have a found plant of Rainbow. Another small grower, very floriferous. We have no blackspot on Teas here, so I can't speak to that.

Molly's right! Keep G. Nabonnand. It just needs a little time to build up to the critical mass that it needs.

Rainbow I found disappointing. It mildews constantly here, for one thing . . .

Niles Cochet, IMHO, is a better rose than Maman Cochet. In my coastal climate, blooms don't ALWAYS open, but they're lovely even when they don't.
The plant is self-cleaning. The bloom colors shift some with the weather and temperature.

Robert, in this area of the hot humid south, Rainbow is fine. Big bush, the foliage is kind of sparse but it blooms well and the blooms are beautiful. Niles balled nearly all the time. The blooms when they opened were gorgeous but not many of them opened. General Gallieni is bullet proof. Mme Charles, Mme Bravy, and Souv de Victor Hugo are only two years in my garden but so far I really like them. Souv de Pierre Notting is wonderful. Smaller Tea, beautiful blooms, some blackspot. I have Papa Gontier and CFH coming this spring, myself :-).

Carla has a good big plant of Rainbow and from what I saw it is beautiful and healthy. I have a little plant of it for you I am pretty sure.

I agree with Cecily that Gen. Schablikine is similar to Mons. Tillier..I sp'd the General for that reason. General Gallieni has been a fantastic bloomer though a little slow to put on size ( could be location). It has had very variable blooms.. no two alike. As the plant matures, blooms can be large and beautiful. I have a plant of him for you also. Were you able to root some of those OGR's?

I used to have Papa Gontier, which is the parent plant of Rainbow I think. Papa wasn't big enough going into winter and I lost him to cold. But even my young plant was a prolific and beautiful bloomer.

Niles is too young yet for me to tell..hope he makes it through this winter.

Definitely keep G. Nabonand! Lovely blooms and healthy bush. I also recommend Mme. Charles. The blooms are wonderful - I lost my other plant [my fault] and ordered a band from Vintage in October. I have already had to repot it, its very healthy and think this one is going to be a winner. I had Rainbow several years ago. Blooms were small and looked nothing like the photos. Folliage was thin and wimpy. It died before I could plant it, but dont plan to reorder, tho Carla's photo did make me think hard about that!

Rehashing an olde problem: does anybody know what rose Park Wayside was selling as Gen. Shablinkne? (How ever it's spelled... It wasn't the same GS as other nurseries had and it had RMV and it's gone now, but I'd like to know what it really was.)

I agree with the others ... KEEP G. Nabonnand on your list.
It performs near flawlessly for me. I like the blooms and they come at you non-stop. Beautiful foliage.
But then again, you could probably tell by my GardenWeb name that I might like this rose :-)

Olga, I do have Maman Cochet which seems to be doing fine. I've not experienced much balling or defoliation on her.

Carla, I do have about 2.5 acres...but it's filling up fast. I'm sure I have problems with thrips, but, because I am NOT a perfectionist, I overlook a lot of stuff. But, I still think my garden has some charm.

I think I may take off Mme. Wagram. Bourbons aren't doing so well for me (except the SDLM clan).

I may end up getting most of the others!

Madame Wagram did not bloom much for me. Sort of a sprawling bush as well. It has been a while since I shovel pruned her but just remember I wasn't too crazy about her. I have General "S" and he seems to be a good rose. Pretty bush and lots of blooms. I also like G. Nabonnand. Blooms frequently, very pretty blooms, too. One of the best roses for me is Le Vesuve. It is classified as a china but reminds me of a tea. So beautiful and blooms almost year around. Vicki
