I believe it is a sugar maple.

Any more votes? In the forest where this seedling's from, is there anything I could check on the mature surrounding maples to tell what kind they are? I'll try to get a picture - I went to take one last night, but forgot to put the memory card in my camera.....duoyyy

There should be one way to know for sure. A broken leaf petiole on Norway maple should ooze white sap while a sugar maple should ooze clear sap.

It definitely is a Sugar maple (Acer saccharum)

Norway maple leaves are wider and more hand like.

I asked a friend , instructor in woody plants, and he believes it is Sugar maple, too.

I'm glad it ended up being a Sugar Maple - I've heard bad things about Norway Maples (that they're invasive, don't let grass grow beneath them, and tend to commit suicide).
