I don't know what difference there is at the five gallon size, but i wouldn't buy one from someone who doesn't know either! lol. I'm sure there are plenty of nurseries around who sell them. Get the phone book and give local nurseries a call, and ask them for the travelers palm throught its scientific name (ravenala madagascarensis). Even if they don't have one in stock, they may be able to get one for you. njoasis, the west coast is very mild, even up to the Canadian border. For northern Cal, Oregon and Washington, the "mild" effect is only right along the coast though, and diminished as you go inland. People in Eureka are able to grow Draceanas Fragans, Phoenix Canariensis, Washingtonia Robusta, Norfolk Island Pine, Strelitzias, Syagrus Romanzoffiana, Ensete Ventricosa, all without protection. I will admit though, that because they are plagued with never-ending fog, and lack the heat even in summer, everything grows painfully slow, and if damaged, takes forever to recover.

It's all boils down to interpretation, I guess, but I've always viewed off white as having more gray or brown (leaning almost to tan) undertones, while cream is just that, not a stark white, but the color of dairy cream. ;) Off white being a bit deeper that cream. I snagged these off the web. All have true white in them for comparison. I'd consider the ones below "off white" (note the depth compared to the white in the wall): I'd consider these a cream (lighting in photo isn't the best, but note the depth compared to the white trim, it's very subtle, but the cabs are just a bit deeper and warmer than the trim in the room): Then there's something I'd consider that falls in between the two. These are maple cabs that have glaze and speckle applied per manufacturer site. I'd consider them 'antiqued', usually done with cream paint, and the darker glaze clings to nooks and crannies to give an aged effect. So it's deeper than a cream but not as deep as off white, and not solid color because of the effect the glaze brings into it. You can use the white ceiling for comparison to a true white.

Thanks everyone! I'm usually a believer of "you get what you pay for" so that's why I'm a little worried about buying the cheap tile. However, it's the perfect color - I can't find another one that coordinates as well as the cheap one! It's either the cheap ceramic subway or white dolomite marble in 2" x 6". We'll have dark, distressed wood floors, white cabs with vintage finish, raven caesarstone on the perimeter and cambria torquay on the island. Our family room and kitchen are one big, long rectangle so they need to coordinate. Our family room has mostly cool colors - blue, gray, white and espresso. Any thoughts??

First off, Kippee, you need to know that I'm a single, empty nester. As such, I have tremendous amount of control over what happens in my kitchen and I don't have to worry about rambunctious small children, oblivious and careless teens, or clueless DHs messing up my pet remodel projects! :-) At the same time, I was very clear when I chose a super gorgeous natural stone for my kitchen tabletop, I would also have to give it the kind of special attention that a diva always demands (otherwise, there would be trouble)! Therefore, when I'm eating or drinking or setting down food and beverages at my marble table, always use plastic-coated place mats. (This protective measure goes for visiting family and friends as well.) And if I see spills, I wipe them up immediately. Of course, I'm able to keep up with this kind of really attentive maintenance because I'm only dealing with an "accent piece" of white marble that is the size of cafe tabletop. In contrast, my countertops are made of soapstone. For those, I can spill anything on them, from lemon juice to red wine, sit and there are no consequences at all. With this combo, I feel like I have the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to what sealant the fabricator used and I never asked him. However, my backsplash is a white mosaic marble (probably in the Calacatta family, but I'm not sure). For that, the contractor used Tile Guard's "Sealer Pro" for natural stone. Also, I think Bill V. usually recommends a'Miracle 511 Impregnator." But, hopefully, he'll come back here to speak on this himself.
