Planting times - as mentioned - can be quite confusing, so I'm not offering any suggestions on which types of vegetables to plant in March. In my zone, I'm thinking about tomatoes already, tho they won't go outside until April - when weather is warmer, after frost possibility. One thing that I found helpful, when I was first gardening -was to find seed packets that had zone planting dates on the back of them. Although it doesn't help with areas that have "microclimates" it is still a good general idea of when that particular seed can be planted. Not all seed companies have these nice zoning maps, but if you are going shopping anyway, you might try to find this type of seed packet. I have some Ferry-Morse seeds and others that have these maps, and find them generally helpful. Also, you might pay particular attention to the posters on these forums, who live in your zone - and they can give you the best advice in this regard, from their own experience. Many states and counties have government agriculture Extension services, although California doesn't seem to have one, but we have access to other information in place of it. Are you near Rte 130? There are a few on Rte 130, if that is in your neighborhood: 1. Amato's Garden Center Nursery & Landscaping - (732) 297-6904 - Us Highway 130 & Deans-rhode, Monmouth Junction, NJ and crossroads- http://www.crossroadsnursery.com/directions.html in south brunswick. They both have a large quantity, but of the usual common annuals and perenniels, nothing out of the ordinary. If you want to go a little further afield, I suggest a trip to Somerset County, which has a lot of nurseries. And my favorite NJ garden center is Ambleside. and if you want to take a drive toward Princeton, on Rte 27, there are a few nurseries along the way.

Probably the easiest are those that do not require any kind of a dormancy [or rest] period. Ones which instead like warm moist conditions all year round. Drosera [sundews]: some good candidates: D. capensis, & D. spathulata lowland Nepenthes: such as N. gracilis, N. ventricosa, N.ampullaria ***be forewarned that pretty much all the neps will at some point outgrow a small terr [15 gal or less] - and most rather quickly [w/in a year or two].
