I thought of Little White Pet before I got to the end of your post where you mentioned it - I think it would be perfect. I have three, in all different places. One is actually in the corner of a bed between our driveway, the street, and the sidewalk. It loves it there. Stays compact, stays healthy, stays covered in leaves, and blooms 9-10 months of the year with those small, neat, exquisite blooms.

I have Gourmet Popcorn with my Martha. It's a tough little rose here.

Look at the rose Lullaby on HMF. It's a stunning low growing white that doesn't turn up as often as it should.

Thank you for the kind responses. I am going to try to source rose lullaby and gourmet popcorn . Will post pictures in the fall. I will also include white pet. So pleased to know it loves the heat.

I have two hedges of gourmet popcorn, and in my garden both of them have to be sheared with hedge clippers twice a year to keep them down to 5 feet - left alone they would get to be 6-7 feet easily. I am certain about this, because at any height over 5 feet one of them blocks the view of the sidewalk as one is driving out of our driveway, and it is my job to keep that hedge low enough so that we do not run into the pedestrians.

Jackie, GP must not like damp heat, or perhaps it's my homemade soil here as mine stays quite small, so I guess as Jeri always says, YMMV. It was a cutting from my mom's plant which is ancient, and hers is also small. They are small, but very healthy and bloom nonstop here. Probably on Fortuniana it would be larger, but mine is own-root.

My Martha is also small compared to pictures I've seen on the forums.

Yes to small polyanthas. Everyone loves the roses on my parkway strips. Groundcover Thyme makes a good cover for people stepping out of cars. If it's very busy, you can use pavers or flagstone and thyme. I chose the floribunda Pink Rosette because of the smooth canes but any of the above suggestions would be lovely in a line.

Just make sure that bermuda is completely eliminated before you plant anything, lest you end up with bermuda root system so tangled up in the root systems of a good plant you have to trash that good plant.
