Climbing or Rambling Roses to frame porch front?

I removed two hugely overgrown Yews from either side of my porch steps and had the pleasure of putting in a temporary butterfly/hummingbird garden last year. I was thinking that I'd like the (plain) front porch to look a bit old fashioned/romantic with roses growing up the porch pillars and bent across the entry.

It's rather unremarkable: long, low and three steps high, a south facing entry porch around 48 feet long fronting a very old white brick federal PA vernacular farmhouse. We enjoy sitting on the front porch looking out at all the garden flowers and watching birds, etc. It gets used a lot and I want to dress the porch up!

What type would best suit this purpose? A rambler or climber? Polyantha, floribunda, large flowered climber? In this situation, should I look for something that has many lateral blooms and good rebloom (I suppose I could also train a clematis). I'm just not sure what size or growth habit I should be looking for and which ones listed would be hardy enough.

Thoughts?
