Name That Plant!

Help Indentify a few plants

Hi, new here and was hoping someone could help me out. Im trying to get my Parents flower beds cleaned up and since my Mom used to handle all the gardening and has passed away, I am kind of lost on what is supposed to be there and what may be a weed or an unwanted plant. Im attaching a few pics in the hopes I can get these identified. Thanks for any and all help!!

Yes, topping them down to 8 or 9 feet should be fine. To get more density/fullness, adequate water and fertilizer, then tip prune and tip prune and tip prune the new growth to gradually develop more leafy stems. The basic problem is they are planted too close to each other and too close to the fence, so can't develop enough branching and foliage to look really good. Someone was in a hurry to get a screen and didn't think long-term. Good care and patient light trimming over a period of time can make them look a lot better than they look now, though.

These threads are so fun for a plant nerd like me! 2&3 Curly dock, a weed with a tap root, so dig out with a tool that is narrow and deep like a dandelion digger. 4 sorrel, a weed with fine underground runners. Have to weed often and as completely as possible to get rid of it as it resprouts from roots that break off or Roundup works on it relatively well. Pull before it goes to seed (tall stalks currently on it are either blooms or seeds) 5 False Solomon's seal (Smilacina racemosa), a nice wildflower. Will slowly increase if you let the berries develop. 6 I'd guess a weed (but not sure) since I have a weed that comes up in my garden that looks similar 7 & 8 Lilac - should have scent 9 Hydrangea probably 10 Leucothoe Euonymous- keep an eye on it and prune where you don't want it as it will spread, but not rapidly 12 Gout weed or Bishop's weed (Aegopodium)- will spread and is hard to remove since will sprout from any little root. If not contained I would consider taking Round-up to it before it gets totally out of hand (though you will have to keep the Roundup off other plants as it will kill them also) 13 Apple most probably or crabapple 14 Musclewood AKA Amaerican hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) Nice small native tree 15 Not sure, but if a pair leaves come off exactly opposite each other on the stem, it's a native viburnum, but I can't remember which off the top of my head

Need help indentifying this plant

All i know is it is dried for tea, local people drink its tea for curing some (people say all) cancer types and it's really working. There are people i know who drink this tea and get rid of cancer cells completely. I got this weed from an old person from Akhisar (Turkey) region and he is not saying where he got it from :) I'm trying to identify it to make research about it. I will rehydrate for better picture and post it here again.Thanks for the opinions.

Thanks for the help. So is this an invasive? should it be pulled?

It isn't the one people use to make beer and it can be invasive. Can't think of any reason to keep it.

For clarification, Humulus lupulus is the species used for beer and there are named cultivars grown for the purpose.

sorry about ma ...

listen to me.. you are not asking the right questions ....

the issue... is that mom probably used to putter out there with endless hours to make her garden ...

let me suggest.. that as you roll thru these ID's ... and presuming you dont have unlimited hours ... that you ask about how vigorous a given plant is ...

with this vine.. beyond Id... what i read in the answer given... is that if you arent out there with a machete every 45 minutes.. it MIGHT take over the whole yard...

so whether or not mom ... GRHSoul ... thought it was a nice plant.. perhaps you dont want it there... to swallow up and seed all over the garden ... when you have your back turned ...

ps: your other post... i have no experience with that plant.. but just looking at it.. makes me think the same thing ....

Ken, thank you for your kind words. The thing is, it just appeared this year in that spot and has grown vigorously since. I had a feeling it was an unwanted, but was maybe thinking of of transplanting it to an area where it can roam since i think it is kind of neat looking

People who need a narrow and/or quick-growing screen in a shady spot sometimes solve their problem by growing hops on a trellis.

I agree that the leaves are attractive.
