'White Cecile Brunner' is a good guess, and that was one I thought it might be - " but plantloverkat just reminded me that I did own 'Alister Stella Gray,' and lost track of it, and I think this is the rose. Looking at photos of both, it more resembles 'ASG' overall. The bud is exactly the same, and the flower, although more golden-looking in most of the photos (on HelpMeFind, anyway), also looks right. This is a good argument for TAGGING YOUR PLANTS. Especially since my roses are currently in a friend's yard... a friend who really likes to move plants around. I always think I'll remember who's who, but I don't always! So thanks very much for your help.

There are many possibilities. It reminds me of 'The Bismark School Rose', a found rose pictured on the Peacefull Habitations Rose site. Notice the flat leaves on both roses. Many roses have leaves with wavy edges. As far as I know this rose has not been identified. To see it follow the link below. Look on the left side bar under 'Information' and click on 'Found Roses'. Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have this rose bush anymore. After the polar vortex it didn't bloom like it used to. Last year it just had 2 tiny roses. This year the canes were really brown and dried. I would like to replace this dead rose bush. I tried to find the same type of rose, but I couldn't. Maybe next year! Thank you again!

Thanks again, Nik - I wanted to look it up, but did not know what to call it. The article you linked to is great - who would have thought that even totally separate trees could do this with no human intervention? I looked, but did not find any articles about it happening accidentally in roses - just on purpose grafting by humans. However, it obviously does happen, and I'll bet you're correct that someone noticed it, and started experimenting... Jackie
