Mystery shrub(s) ... friend or foe??

Can anyone ID this small shrub-like plant? I suddenly have about 10 of them along the edge of the yard (on the perimeter of a woodland, but in sun on the edge). The flower is fragrant, white with fine pink stripes on the inner petal surfaces, leaves are opposite. I don't see the silvery underside on the leaves that would say autumn olive (flower doesn't look right, either).

If it means anything, my cat is going NUTS over the small piece I cut and brought in to try to ID. She ate yesterday's cutting -- stole it right off the counter (so I am very much hoping it isn't poisonous, whatever it is) and today is trying her mightiest to get into my desk drawer where I put a new one to keep it away from her.

The cut end seems quite sticky. I'm guessing based on how many have popped up that I DON'T want it... but would like to be sure before I rip it out. It looks like something I SHOULD know ... but it doesn't match anything I can find.

MANY thanks for an ID!!!
