I have 2 but can't remember cutting them to bring inside but I recall Henry Kuska saying he would bring them into work and were favorites among his coworkers.

Hmmmmmmm Who is Henry Kuska? But if he brought them to work, i guess this is a good thing. So they are good cut flowers? I hope so.

Thought you knew but I guess he doesn't post much on here anymore. Henry is a retired chemist who has been growing, propagating, and hybridizing roses for many many years. He use to be a regular on here and one of our experts.
You will enjoy it; do an experiment yourself and pick a small branch in bloom and see how it does; if the petals should fall too fast, then pick a branch before the petals are fully open but show white. Experiment- that is the fun of gardening- I try to bring back the childhood mentality of mud puddle and sand box playing- it makes it fun and one learns and creates.
Enjoy Darlow's Enigma; it is a WONDERFUL rose and somedays when weeding 20-30 feet away with my head down, I would get a whiff and think, Darlow must be blooming, and sure enough, there would be only a cluster or two out and I would smell it at that distance. A wonderful wafter. I think Henry mentioned if his coworkers brushed against the blooms, they could still get a whiff of it later on their clothes. His post was a good 4-5 years ago on this topic so my memory is a bit shakey.

Thank you Jim for your explanation! I can't wait to get my Darlow's Enigma. It is coming in March, according to my receipt, and I know exactly where I'm putting it! Between the Palm Tree (climb as high as it wants) and the gate arch (climb up and over onto the roof). I hope it fills my courtyard with scent! Bringing in the scent of that rose would be even more exciting! I will definitely try it on the first bloom!

I'm going to put Blush Noisette near the palm tree by the front door, and I hope it climbs that tree and bounces back even more perfume!

My darlows enigma has small single white flowers that last about a day and then fall apart. I cant really see using it for cut flowers.

Well, I wasn't using it as a cutting rose until I read this post. But I saw this and knew I had some blooming, so I cut 3 half open sprays, shoved them in a vase, took them to a rose society meeting and then home and put them on the sink in the bathroom, where the individual little blooms in the sprays continued to open for an entire week. And it smelled SOOO good in there. The fragrance on this one really develops after the rose is cut. It lasted beautifully, much to my surprise. Finally tossed it on about the eighth day.

NOW it's a cutting rose here. THANK YOU for the suggestion and experiment.

i don't find Darlows to be a really strong scent, but I love it anyway. This is the best rose for growing in shade that I know of.
