But it grows well and produces very large light lavender flowers. About 8" across. Blc. King of Taiwan 'Splendiferous' AM/AOS (Blc. Bryce Canyon'Splendiferous' AM/AOS x Blc. Purple Ruby) Looks like a lot of the King of Taiwans. Very much like "Da Shin" AM/AOS. Good growers. Compact growth habit. Very large medium dark lavender. Has a lot of Bryce Canyon in it. Blc. Ports of Paradise 'Green Ching Hua' AM/AOS (Blc. Fortune 'Spllbound' AM/AOS x B. digbyana ' Mrs. Chase' AM/AOS) Nice Ports of Paradise. I even like it better than the FCC "Emerald Isle" and I also prefer Gleneyrie's Green Giant FCC/AOS to Emerald. Good grower. Give it good light or else it gets straggly. Or won't flower. Thanks for the pics, cjwatson. I used to have mine on the same sort of mount, but it drove me crazy (it wouldn't sit well in my terrarium) so I remounted it on a piece of cholla, and it seems happy with that. Your temps are a bit higher, but the humidity is similar, and I do let it dry out before watering again. I think the major difference is air circulation. I ran out of fans, so there isn't one in the case. I did just order one, which is on its way to me, so we shall see if that helps. I have been losing every plant I've stuck in the front lower right corner, so it may be that the lack of air circulation is a real problem after all. It actually is a cute little plant, isn't it? That seems clear from your pics. Oh forgot to ask, does it only bloom on new growth, or will it bloom from the older pseudobulbs too?

You guys are SO FUNNY! Paul I LOVED your photoshopped picture!!! Talynnp, thanks for the encouragement and pictures... right now mine is probably 5 times larger than the ones in your pictures, so I should be able to divide it the way you did and still have a good sized clump in this spot. Ken, I am thrilled to hear that you think it is not the sun! I will dig it up (carefully) and do my darndest to remove what hopefully will be fully decomposed big maple roots by now (3 years since the tree was removed) and amend the soil like crazy and replant. At the time I removed the tree, I spent like 2 days hacking at what was left of the roots after the tree removal service ground the stump and had no energy left to do the same underneath the hosta. I put in a small pond where the tree was and the hosta is about three feet from the edge below a low retaining wall. By the way, I have been top dressing it with vermicompost (from my worm farm), decomposed leaves and composted cow manure (the kind you by at Lowes). Is this a good combination to amend with? I will search for Ken's posting on moving large hosta so I can "do it right". Anyway, after seeing the picture of "my" hosta in Pauls picture - I will never be able to look at mine the same way again without laughing!!!! Thanks to all who posted. Betty

Just beautiful! Can't decide if it inspires me or makes me want to give up. I will never have that many so beautiful all blooming at the same time. But I'll keep trying of course.
