Pond Related Mother's Day gift

Hi all,

My mom redid her backyard (in southern Calif.) about a year and a half ago and put in a koi pond with a water fall that occupies about 1/3 of her backyard. It's really beautiful, made of stone surrounded by tropical plants. She is obsessed with it spending most of her days near (or in) the pond. She has names for all the fish and misses them when she comes to visit. She also has a turtle.

I don't know anything about ponds. I'd like to send her something for her pond for Mother's Day. Got any creative ideas? I thought about sending a unique aquatic plant of some sort? Which website is a pond lover's favorite online shopping spot? Magazine?

I have to act pretty quick to get it sent in time.

Thanks for any advice you may have :)

A gift certificate from the place she gets her pond stuff? or Maybe a statue of something that would fit near her type of pond? I love it when my kids get me anything for, around, in or near the pond! What a thoughtful daughter you are! Debbie

How about this guy. I don't know if it is him or the water scarecrow I bought that is keeping the heron away (knock on wood and hope I don't jinx it) but I suspect it is him. He is pretty cool looking at night moving his head and tail back and forth. Your mother sounds as though she would have him named pretty quickly. I got him from improvements dot com on sale for $24.99.

Lovely!! Those floral dishes are beautiful. I know you will find your 4th goblet. It just gives you and excuse to keep looking. LOL Glad you had a relaxing day. Wasn't the weather fabulous?? I'm sorry about the link... let's try this one. The Apron Book It's very special indeed. Part of the reason for posting about it here is to honor her thoughtfulness and time she put into this gift. She has sewn some curtains and pillow covers but really doesn't care too much about sewing. And that just adds another dimension to the specialness of the gift.

Belle, how fantastic that you had an eagle in your yard. Not many people can say that I'll bet! ;o) Sorry he was after the other birds though--I thought they would mostly look for field mice or something. You sound like me, I get up thinking I'm going to get all kinds of things done, and run out of steam quickly. At the end of the day, I feel pretty good if I've at least accomplished "something". ;o( Anj, there's no running in Laser tag--you just move around dodging behind walls to avoid the other team while trying to score points on them and hopefully get to their "base" to score the big points. The "team" with the most points wins of course, and you get individual points too. You should try it at least once. I'll bet your boys really like it--sort of like being in one of the video games! LOL Little GD turned 6 this week. Time sure goes by fast! This is a busy month for their family--Mother's Day, Anniversary, and little one's birthday all in one week! They decided to celebrate her birthday this weekend, so even though she's gotten to open a couple of presents and blown out a candle on a cupcake and ice cream sandwich--we are going out to dinner and then doing cake and presents tonight, then they are going away for the weekend. She stayed with us last night while her folks went out for their anniversary--kept asking for "hints" as to what her presents were! The suspence is hard at that age. I painted a couple little garden signs, I need to seal them then I can snap a pic to share. Yes, Belle, each cartridge has different fonts or graphics or words so you can make different things. One that I chose cuts out paper dolls and all kinds of outfits for them. Figured little GD and our neighbor's niece would have fun with it. I just finished a little garden sign with some dragonflies and a monogramed plate--I'll snap a pic if anyone wants to see. Gotta go get my shower and get busy. TTYL Luvs

I don't have an "Aquascape" pond, nor do I "believe" in their methods of pond building and upkeep, but I LOVE their "Aquascape Lifestyles" magazine, simply for the beautiful,inspirational pond photos, and even many of their informative articles. A 1 year/4 issue subscription is 21.97

Debbie-that's so nice that you have things around your garden from your children. I gave my mom a gift certificate last year for her birthday from a pond store (that ended up being an awful experience and we are still trying to get our money back-long story!).

BugsB-Your alligator is a crack up! That WOULD scare anything. My mom had some issues with a heron too and bought some type of scare thingy too.

I saw this edible bouquet at someone's house last night and since I was gettin' down to the wire I ordered one to be delivered to her by Saturday. So cute and yummy and she loves chocolate. Not pond related but there's always Christmas! You can check out the link below....
