Are they growing yet?
I'm definitely not an expert, but I'm thinking if they aren't growing yet, they should be fine. Hopefully.

I live in s. florida so those are about the yearly lows for me .They handle down to frost for sure but may go dormant for a while. If you just planted them they'll just develop slower.
BTW Two years ago I added a heating system so temps never fall below 60. They went dormant anyway around mid Jan . Was very surprised by that lol gary

last night wasnt as cold as predicted. i covered the ponds with extra comforters and blankets. temps back to the mid 80s this week will be welcomed. ill uncover today to get the suns warmth.

Glad to hear its going well! I'm wondering if its warm today, if you could cover them up late afternoon, to help retain some of the day's heat?
You sure have alot of those lilies! I only ordered 4......Juno, Panama Pacific, Dauben, and Red Flare. The first and last are night bloomers. Can't wait. Mine won't come until the beginning of June, though, 'cause its just not warm enough here until then.

i have many gardening friends that leave the tropicals out all winter and they come back just fine. however, i dont want to mess up since these are newly ordered and potted and are in full growth.

i love panama pacific. i have it in the greenhouse now along with dauben. i just dont have room to put all these newer ones in the greenhouse tonight. im hoping the cold will be very brief so they really dont notice. :)

I really like Panama Pacific too. It always looks like a little fire going on inside the blossom.
I've never had Dauben before, and actually forgot that I had ordered it!
May I ask where you have all these lilies? What sized containers are they in? Do you overwinter them? Where did you buy them from? I got mine from Trickers.
I had the Juno last year and fell in love with it. Its "just" white, but is gorgeous.

i have about 65 varieties of waterlilies. i started collecting them last year after growing 3 varieties for many years. all are in large containers or above ground ponds. i also am working with a local youth home and growing them to raise money for the program there. the students are fascinated with them. most containers are 25 gallon pots.

i have ordered from texas waterlilies and maryland aquatics with great satisfaction. i just got 2 from pondmegastore that were pathetic looking.

the hardy lilies are no problem in the winter. i plan to leave the tropicals out as well, but keep one plant in the greenhouse for insurance. most tropicals i have are rumored to be more tolerant of cold.

How do the leaves do in such small containers, or do you keep them cut?
Wish I could leave mine out over winter!
I'm sure the kids love seeing them, and it probably puts the seed in their mind to have their own someday.
How big is your greenhouse? I'm envious!

i keep the leaves cut. i have tried to acquire alot of the smaller varieties. i have to divide my oldest/largest ones soon.

at work, i have a 20 x 100 ft greenhouse and i have 2 small greenhouses of my own. i send many plants home with the kids including water lilies. they love bromeliads too. i think they like venus fly traps the best. LOL

do you have to bring the hardy lilies inside too?

I've tried to overwinter the tubers, but haven't had any luck. I don't have room for them in the house all winter (the plants).
I'm wondering if I could use a post hole digger and put the tubers down in the ground for the winter?? Otherwise, I need to just treat them as annuals. But after they've given me such pleasure all summer, its hard to just throw them in the compost pile!
