I found a couple of new things I haven't seen before.

Any ideas?

The second one looks like a type of Oenothera (primrose).

I'm happy the RR is on the way to Georgia. However, I am leaving this afternoon and won't be back until Saturday afternoon. My husband will be at home to get the cacti out of the box, but I won't be home to go through it and take out/add. With the 4th of July holiday coming up, it looks like I won't be able to mail the package until the 5th? Will this be a problem for anyone? Sorry, the timing of the packages arrival is bad timing for me. If the package does arrive today before I leave, I'll try my best to get it to the post office in time.

Jeanette, so glad to hear the mascotts are both resting safely in the infirmary. I see that we can't send any more of these guys out on road trips. they must not be as tough as old nuts the squirrel... though he did get a bit beat up in his travels too. I have been reading magsfrom the box that Remy sent and need to send thanks for the goodies that were included in the box. The special fall Country Living Gardener is terrific is beautiful with so many good articles and the sunflowers on the front cover. Extra special, thanks. Peanut butter kisses are favorites. My brother worked for years for the company that makes them and they always bring happy memories. MMmmmthanks Remy, the watch is so pretty. Thank you so much. My watches are so totally functional and utilitarian it will be a treat to wear something Pretty for a change. Sue, did you make the soap? I want to make some too and have some questions. It sure smells good. I love stuff that smells good. The garden stake and pink glads will go out front in the spring. and the thank you cards are both attractive and practical. Love the old timey wheelbarrow and wish I could find one for my yard. What a treasure that would be. There are also recipe cards and stickers.... hope I didn't miss anything but there were a lot of goodies especially considering how much good reading material was in there too. I appreciate the Green Scene mags as they are close enough to give me ideas of things to plant and places to visit. I've been reading those and enjoying them a lot. I might decide to join PHS myself. When the birdie that is at Jeanettes finds her way home that will be the end of this swap at least until after Christmas. I figure most of us will be pleanty busy from now to then. Thanks everyone for playing. This magazine RR is one of my favorite GW activities. BB

Kim just emailed me, she's been really sick with a kidney infection and the flu. Her package for Sue is going out on Tuesday. I'll email her and see if her package arrived (from Laura). I'll post when I find out anything. Laura, Your package arrived, thank you so much! I love the canning book! I've never attempted canning...and have been thinking about it after the overabundance of tomatoes last year (my first year having a garden). I froze all the extra tomatoes in ziplock freezer bags, and really debated learning canning. It seems to take up so much time, but the book made it sound easy! Also, thanks for the seeds! Gazania "Sunshine Mix", 4 O'clock "Kaleideoscope", Morning glory "Milky Way", California Poppy "Creamsicle", Morning Glory "Heavenly White", MOONFLOWER "White", Blackie potato vine seeds! I tried to overwinter my potato vine and lost it, so really appreciate the potato vine seeds! Plus of course, all the other seed varieties, especially the white ones. Most will go in my moongarden! This moongarden has to be finished this year! I've been working on it for two years! Thanks so much Laura, for sending me this really neat gardening carepackage! I really appreciate it! Deb

First one looks like Potentilla recta, my first thought on the second one was St. John's Wort, could be Oenothera though.

First one could be Potentilla arguta if the lower leaves are pinnate compound. Can't really tell from the picture. Agree the other one is an Oenothera sp.

Flowers look like Lithospermum but I don't recognize the species.

Yes-of course it is. Another fellow and I were commenting yesterday that it couldn't be Hoary Puccoon but it didn't occur to me that Hairy Puccoon is also native here.

Dandy-line - the first yellow flower looks totally different from the second to me. Are you saying you think they are the same? The first does look like an Oenothera while the second looks like a Lithospermum. I am pretty certain the two are NOT the same plant.

Oh, I thought he/she was just reusing this post to put more pictures for identification. Absolutely those two yellow flowers are different.

I went back today and found what I thought was the flower from pic 2. But now I'm not so sure it's the same plant.

Notice that the flower in the first set (the yellow one) only has 4 petals. The flower in the second set has 5 petals.

Honestly, I am not so sure that #3 isn't a new thing!

But if it helps, think about the number of petals next time you go back.

Yes - I'm with esh_ga. I think you've found yet another yellow flower! I'm not up on US natives but no. 3 looks like something in the Helianthemum/Cistus/Halimium gang.
