Severly damaged Jewel orchid

kmmanship

My jewel orchid (Macodes Petola) has sent up it's first flower spike. A few days ago I found that the plant had been broken off BELOW the lowest leaves. The roots and lower stem (with NO leaves) are still in the moss. The end of the plant's lower stem is darkened and is drying, but below that still seems to be healthy.

The spike continues to try to support the blooms and I may be able to keep the spike alive long enough to see the flowers.

1) Will the base plant survive...and if so, how do I help it along?

2) Can I somehow root the detached stem, which has the leaves?

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I am SO bummed. This is such a great plant and I'd really hate to lose it.
