Depending upon which region you live in, Circle Flower (Lysimachia punctata) is also known as Dotted Loosestrife, Garden Loosestrife, Large Yellow Loosestrife, Yellow Loosestrife, Whorled Loosestrife and various other unprintable names! It is an Introduced species, from Central & South Europe, and has spread from coast to coast across the northern tier of states, especially in wetlands, a habitat that it prefers. It is commonly available with a cultivar name; 'Alexander' Some gardeners report that it is well behaved and not at all invasive. I can't verify, as I have no Lysimachia species or cultivars. Rb

Cameron, thanks for sharing that website. It will be very helpful. Somehow when I took a year of latin in college, I didn't know I would actually "need" that Latin later in life as a gardener. I guess I should have paid closer attention in class! LOL!

Well, I put up a long post earlier, but it seems to have disappeared. The long and short of it was that these two would easily survive a mild Texas winter like we've experienced this year, but things become more iffy with more extreme weather. If you can plant them sheltered by a southern-facing wall, they'd do the best (although that's one for the obvious column). As for good books, the two most popular are Passiflora: Passionflowers of the World by Torsten Ulmer and Passion Flowers by John Vanderplank. Lots of good info and pretty pics in both of them. You can look 'em up on Amazon for more details. If I may ask, where'd you find those two varieties? I've looked around here, but only found Lavender Lady and p. vitifolia.
