Question for Michael or other Technowhizzes

Is it possible (or, I suppose, legal) to copy (download?) a song from YouTube? I've been looking for Michael Johnson's Bluer Than Blue for quite awhile now. Alas, the original is out of print, and I'm not willing to pay the prices being asked for at Amazon. $50 is a bit much for one song. I've checked Ebay and they only have it on vinyl, and his new release Then & Now has an acoustic version that's not what I'm looking for.

Anyhow, I found the original studio version on YouTube, but I can't stick my computer in my pocket and take it with me whenever I want to listen to the song. Is there any way I can transfer it to CD, MP3 or iPod?

Itunes has the song for 99 cents.

You will have to download and install the Itune software and the sign up.

Itunes.

It's up to you and your conscience and your computer skills if you want to copy it from Youtube.

Oh, and the whole album is only $7.99 at ITunes. Downloaded, of course.

I planted six Autumn Sunsets this past August. They did not go into shock, grew a bit, and put on a few blooms, despite being planted in all that heat. This year, they are growing well. I have yet to see the first hint of disease. I'm in Central Mississippi, which is Blackspot country, but have seen not one black spot on Autumn Sunset, even though there are blackspot-breeding roses all around them. The excellent foliage (and that incredible Apricot color), to me, more than compensates for any scarcity of blooms.

Jane, you will be fine! It is easy... Some tips...hmm, don't eat it all at once...:) I slit the bottom and ice it, and the top 2 times, so you get icing with every bite. When you take it out and let it cool, put a plate on the lump on the top of the bottom part..(I know, but yes, I am speaking English!) That way it will get flat and yo wont have to cut it off... I used choc on the bottom and as filling and made whipped cream for the top..lots of it...I use Whip It, it is a stabilizer found it the supermarket made by Oetker, as well as confectionary sugar so it hold up for a LONG time... Here are some pics... The last one I did in all chocolate...but I like the look of the whipped cream better! This is the next size down, the realy big cupcake! 4 are the same as one whole cake recipe... Feel free to ask any questions, and my email is listed too..

Thanks, everyone! I'm off to buy a 1/2" nap roller, and I found a local ICI paint store, so I'm going to give the ultra-hide a try. Thanks, Paintguy, for that tip. I'm hoping the reason you like it best is that it is forgiving in terms of the flash marks! (After feeling all confident after my walls turned-out so great, I now feel like I need some sort of "ceiling paint for dummies" to get the ceiling to be even passable!) Faron, I used the non-reflective flat on the ceiling. When I asked at the paint store this is what they recommended. They did not mention the C4150 ceiling paint. I'd be curious to know your opinion on the difference between the two. My paint store told me that the non-reflective flat was only good for ceilings, as it would not stand up to wall use. What is C2 thinking here? If, as Paintguy reports, even the pros don't like the non-reflective to use on the ceiling, (and I can attest, it's certainly hard for the amateur to use), what is it's intended use--particularly if C2 has a less costly reformulated (better?) "ceiling" paint? If you have used both, or have enough comments from your customers to form an opinion, I'd be interested. Is the reformulated ceiling paint intended to replace the non-reflective? Do you think my local store is just unloading the old stuff? Just curious. Thanks Mindstorm for clearing-up the full spectrum issue. I think the full spectrum paints sound wonderful, but am wondering if there are any that are available through local stores, as opposed to mail order? Also, if I'm using basic off-whites and neutral beige, is it worth the extra cost and hassle? I've always liked plain white walls because you can change the color in a room with accessories. I'm thinking of making (for me) a "bold" move, and going with beige in my entry hall. Would I really notice that much difference between regular paint and full spectrum, considering it is, after all...beige? Thanks also Michael and Christopher for chiming in. Michael, any tips on rolling technique to maintain the wet edge? I think the longer nap roller will help, but I found, with the room size, if I start in a corner, and roll the length of my reach working across the room, by the time I get back to the side where I started, it's kinda dry? Ceiling is 9' and I'm using a pole. Surprised no one picked up on the floetrol? would this stuff help keep things wet? Is there a downside to using it?

I have never used that paint...is it runny and sort of loose bodied? You don't really have to worry about overloading the roller I don't think, but when you dip your sleeve and start rolling a section, the area where you start has all the heavy paint and that has to be spread out. If you don't spread it out enough then that could sag. Also, temperature may make a difference. If the room is cold or the wall itself is cold, the paint may not dry as fast as it supposed to and can sag. Also, sometimes when you are rolling top to bottom, when you change directions at the top, some people that are pushing too hard on the sleeve can leave a small hill of paint there. Is that what happened? You want to not push hard on the sleeve, especially when you change directions. While the paint is curing, it may be hard to remove drips without pulling the paint film around so you need to be careful. You can try denatured alcohol on a rag lightly to try to rub the drip down or you can try lightly sanding with 150 grit. The paint can take up to a month to fully cure so until then you really can't scrub it or sand it harshly without turning it into a rubbery mess. Can't you cut-in around the wires and cables with a brush prior to rolling? Paint doesn't clog up the sink but you don't want to pour mass amounts of paint down your drain if you can help it. You can squeeze most of the paint out of your rollers back into the can before you begin to wash them.

iTunes has the acoustic version from his new Then & Now album. I was looking for the old studio version. I assume from your reply that taking something from YouTube for personal use is not what that website was intended for. Rats. Thanks anyway, Michael, I appreciate the prompt response.

Vinyl may be the only way to go. If you have a turn table, it's easy enough and cheap enough to hook up to your computer. The cables can be found at most any electronics store. Then it's just a matter of using your recording software. That's what I've been thinking of doing. I have ~150 albums that aren't being used. And I do prefer the analog sound over the digital sound. Even though the recording bitrate is good, I still can tell the difference between cd's and albums. Albums to me, at least, provide a fuller and richer sound than a cd does. Though albums degrade faster, with the appropiate software, I can record the albums to my computer and then use software to remove any pops and/or whistles that the album may have incurred.

Yes, you can download a video from YouTube.
Instructions at the link below.

Then you just need software like
Freecorder to extract the audio.
Audacity is another free audio program
that is very good to have and is supposed
to be able to do this.

So very close, Michael. I found The Michael Johnson Album at MP3.com, but got the following message when I tried to download. "Sorry, at this time no downloads have been found for The Michael Johnson Album. Check the albums tab for other downloads from Michael Johnson."

Oh, how I wish I had a turntable. I even saw one in Linens n Things that records directly to CD. Alas, even a plain vanilla one's a luxury that's nowhere near being in the budget right now. I have a considerable amount of vinyl in both 33 and 45 RPM format that I can only stare and sigh at. Thank you for trying to help, Michael. I truly appreciate it.

Don, I can't seem to make the freeware work. I think the problem may be that I only have an iPod mini, not an iPod video. All I want is the audio portion of the YouTube file. Is there anything else I can try?
