Will corn gluten meal applied in the spring reduce japanese stiltgrass in areas where the stiltgrass was weeded in the fall? What about in areas where it was mowed not weeded?
Agree. I have used CGM at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet, monthly, throughout an entire season, and never saw any reduction in weed pressure. I did; however, have the best lawn I've ever had!
Corn glutern meal is some what effective against annual weeds that grow from seed. It is not effective against prennial weeds except to fertilize them and mnake them grow. There are certainly cheaper organic fertilizers than CGM.
Japanese Stiltgrass is an annual, so anything the prevents seed germination should, in theory, work. CGM is supposed to deter seed germination. Anything that is labelled for crabgrass prevention will likely work.
