Its a "spikeiki"! lol. Sometimes orchids get confused due to either environmental or chemical disruptions just at the moment in time when they are deciding to grow a keiki or a spike. The result is a mutated spike/keiki combination. Depending on which component is more dominant, you may get a tiny keiki that has a blooming spike. Or a spike with leaves only. I have seen a dendrobium picture some time ago that had a long spike that only produced one leaf at the tip. It would be interesting what your new growth ends up with.

Hold on here :0) I am talking about when they were FULL SIZED plants - lush, green, full plants - germination was terrific all winter, and well into spring - beautiful seedlings which grew into FULL plants... BUT.. my post is about what happened to them AFTER they became FULL PLANTS... not seedlings. I think I probably should NEVER have had them in full sun - that is probably why they "disappeared" so to speak - or shriveled up. I know they got enough water, so my thinking is that they can't take the heat - and we did have 100 temps for a few days in a row. My seedlings NOW are fine and will be - unless of course, I have them in really hot sun... (?) Carrie

It could be just about anything. I was woken up by voices in the middle of the night, once. It took me forever to figure out where they were coming from, but it turned out to be my computer speakers picking up someone's HAM radio conversation. I had to unplug them to make it stop. I plugged them back in the next morning, and it has never happened again. Oh, just thought of another one! I have a Curious George doll for the Grandbabies. He giggles when you squeeze his feet/hands. He sits in a basket under an end table, nice and quiet until the kids are visiting. I switched the wooden table out to one that is glass, and George started giggling on his own at random times, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it. Turns out the igniters on my gas cooktop were doing it. Apparently he was shielded under the wooden table, but not the glass.

@misecretary thanks for reminding me to add for plan pictures. I don’t have official ones, just this rough not-to-scale one I created from piecing the rooms together through pictures. @mer03 I definitely understand the back of the couch idea as a barrier. The furniture shown in these pictures, though, isn't mine so ther’s some freedom to try other things. I’m assuming its the current/past tenants. @Patricia Colwell thanks for the chandelier swap suggestion. I’m a ”lazy” renter and usually just live with spaces as they exist but that would be a great update. Don’t cring too hard at my sketches. I’ve included the floor plan and my proposed furniture layout. (The squiggle squares are rugs lol)
