O.K. to core aerate bermuda lawn in fall?

Hello, most of the material I've read through suggests aerating bermuda grass in the late spring and early summer for bermuda.

Would it be O.K. to go ahead and use a core aerator on a bermuda lawn in the fall like this w-end here in central Kansas? The daytime highs are still in the upper 80's and the grass is still green and growing I think.

It won't damage it too much will it?

I have three kids that have trampled the lawn in spots too where the ground when dry is as hard as concrete. I thought with the winter snows and freezes comming it would help loosen the hard soil and relax the roots for easier spreading in the spring. Is this a corect assumption?

Thanks, Neal
