I've used .5 gph and 1 gph drippers on a timer. I've never had one clog up - maybe if your water is super hard? I ran the system all the way from the back of the house to the front - starting with my neighbors potted plants, my plants planted in a narrow strip along the back fence, everything I had planted on the south side of the house, across the front of the house (flowers) and the hanging planters I had on the front stoop. Worked great. Saved my neighbors plants as well as my own. I think I had it on a 30 minute timer - might have been 20 mins. I think I had a flow limiter as well. There was probably a screen at the input end as well. I got the parts at WalMart in Sidney OH - no other WalMart I've been to carries them. I'm sure other WalMarts do have them, just not where I was living at the time (WV, my dad lived in Sidney, so I bought the parts when I was visiting up there). I plan to set something similar up after we move in a couple of weeks, though I'm not sure where I'll get the parts yet. BTW I'm pretty sure it was Orbit - I could get tubing and parts separately so I could get just what I needed instead of having to buy a pre-packaged kit with too much of this and not enough of that, LOL!

I posted a similar message. I bought the Orbit sprinklers you mentioned. I'm going to run them in parallel, one hose from the timer valve to a "Y" splitter-- two on each line on 5/8" hose. Right now my water pressure in my home is way too high. Our local utility says 80 max and ours is over 100. So I'll get better results now then once the plumber puts the regulator on--we have to do this, it has blown two of our Grohe hoses on our kitchen sink. I'm going to get an RV pressure regulator in the interim, that will be lower than the future pressure, it should be an interesting experiment! I'm hoping to set this up over labor day weekend and see how it works out. I'm trying to water at 30' diameter lawn.

My plans changed when my mother in law handed me another tomato plant-a variety I would never grow, of course-and said it was her favorite tomato and to grow it for her. So I took a 1/4" line from each leg, teed them and ran the output to a spike bubbler. I have more than enough flow and pressure at the bubbler, so I'm guessing that the emitters on those low-flowing plants are the problem, and not pressure nor flow on the supply lines. As for the Nelson, I found that the batteries ran down in short order -- one to several months. Try a battery-operated Melnor or Gardena. Both have been very reliable for me. When I lived/gardened in California, I used them year-round on just one set of batteries.
