Phalaenopsis Grew New Leaves From Bare Root

Posey Planter

Hi everyone!

I had read that if a Phal got crown rot & lost its leaves, that there was basically no hope for the plant. So, I assumed that if a Phal lost all its leaves for any other reason, that it was a goner.

I had a phal that I did not like the way it was hanging out of a planter. I removed the part with the leaves and some healthy roots & planted it in another container during the winter. ItÂs doing well. The original parent plant was left without any leaves & its roots were tangled in with some other phals the same basket, so I left them there. I wondered if maybe it would grow new leaves. I figured if not, oh well.

Guess what? Today I saw two little leaves about 1" long growing from the old roots!!

Yippee!
