I'm in a new rental and I don't know if I should pull this stuff out or not. It's growing pretty fast!

I'm not so good with names, but it looks like a wild plant that grows around here, think it has purple flowers?

Wait and see how you like the flowers, what I usually do.

Been trying to move all my wildflowers in a field further away. Wish non-wild plants would grow so well!

Howdy, neighbor! I live in the Greater Rochester, NY area as well. The plant is nothing anyone planted and can be pulled if you want to plant something else there. (I won't say "weed" since that is always a point of view word to me.) It looks like one of the small white-flowered aster varieties. At this stage, the foliage of this aster looks very similar to goldenrod but the goldenrod that is most common in this area has a fuzz or down to it. Not this aster and at this stage that is the biggest visible difference between the two. Both grow at my place. Both are not the best neighbors in the garden but the aster I speak of is down-right thuggish.

#1 is not morning glory. Some kind of composite, if it's in garden maybe Black Eyed Susan. If it's in the woods, might be White Wood Aster, Aster divaricatus (now called Eurybia divaricata). Or Echinacea? Something along those lines, anyway. #2 is Wineberry, Rubus phoenicolasius. A non-native blackberry relative, considered a weed, although I find it sort of attractive. You can eat the yellow berries, although they're a little bland. #3 is Barberry, Berberis thunbergii. Also a weed, although one that has been planted as an ornamental a lot. I don't recognize the bush. Tree 2 might be Mountain Laurel, but I'm not sure. WW

Dzitmoidonc - YES! I found a photo and it matches perfectly. Whew! This morning I looked at it again and convinced myself it was a poison ivy or poison oak or some kind of poison something. And the squirrels in our neighborhood are NUTS (ha!) for those big walnuts, they drag them around all over the place. Mystery solved. Yay! Thanks everybody!

I agree that they appear to be suckers. They're probably all growing along a surface root. You can scrape away some of the grass and topsoil to see if it's even possible to move the with a sufficient amount of roots to survive. Usually suckers like this don't have a lot of roots of their own within a root ball. They're feeding off the larger structure.
