Looks like flat-leaf parsley, but then there are also related Apiaceae that are native weeds and can be poisonous. It doesn't look like Fool's Parsley (poisonous weed), but I know I've seen some wild plants that look very similar to flat-leaf parsley. But like deejaus said, crush and smell the leaves. Parsley does have a distinct smell and that should help you ID the plant.

well, we are 'told' that the crowns shouls be divided and even replaced every few years....and, when the rhubarb is forced, that crown cannot be forced again, it is usually discarded. My crown is over 30 years old and is more then 4feet wide so I put a cover over a portion of the crown and pick the first pale pink shoots (we don't eat the leaves as they contain oxalic acid, a poison - but the victorians used to make insecticides from the stewed leaves). After picking, we leave the cover off and the plant keeps growing but the leaves get huge and the stems get much thicker and coarser. The following year, I will put a cover on a different section of the crown. I do remove the flowers (although they wouldn't really seem to seed and spread) but by May, the first strawbs are coming in, then the early gooseberries (we have the red Hinnomaeki too, Mariannese, along with a couple of very old cooking varieties), then the redcurrants, blackcurrants, first raspberries. Cherries in July (then again in September), nectarines and peaches, finally, blackberries, plums and apples and nuts (I don't have pears -yet and blueberries are still young). Last year, my grand-daughter was picking fruit straight into her mouth and my elderly collie will also help herself to raspberries off the canes. I am waiting for the first blossom of the year (almond, then peaches) as this, along with tulips, supplies a floral extravaganza until the roses and sweet peas come on song. By July, I barely see the plot since I spend months on my kneeler, picking berries, hardly raising my head over the canopy (and sweltering in the kitchen doing evening jamming). Every year, I swear it will be my last.....and then every spring, all those bad thoughts vapourise with the first pink blossoms. By mid May, the entire plot is a mass of blossom and rampant cow parsley, a sort of sherbert-y frothing sea of petals - will have my camera on hand to record it for the first time ever.

Hi Paul. My mom's burning bush survived quite well this past winter, but maybe that was because of such the thick snow cover we had during those bitter temps? We're in the Manistee area (about 1 hr south of TC). And yes, everything is a bit late for us this year. Heck, they were talking about risk of frost again the other night. Glad it didn't hit. My mom's lilac bush must have been hit by frost again this year, though. Second year since planting... foliage looks great, still no blooms (almost did last year). My mom lost 80% of a hanging impatien bag and 100% of her palm and mandevilla she put out on her deck too soon due to frost 2 weeks ago. I was always told, to avoid risk of frost plant no earlier than June 1st around here. But this year, seems the "risk" still lingers... And as for the extreme variables in temps... THAT'S MICHIGAN FOR YA! :p

Thanks, flora! I didn't think it was a disease because so many plants looked the same. I would guess in that grand allee there would be a few dozen flats and they were all the same color. Not impossible, but unlikely that all be chlorotic. Also - I broke a stem off, it was definitely parsley. the stems were stiff and leaves glossy; unlike those of feverfew. Also odd for it to be a sport with so many plants used! They bed out several times a year at Belllingrath, so I really don't think they would worry the parsley would bolt in that time period. I appreciate your suggestions - I hope someone else has seen thisa and responds; it was quite lovely and a beautiful 'groundcover' for those majestic delphs!
